btw apparently the yankees are now in the Dan Haren running. I hope they give up many good prospects including montero.
In the new Geico commercial, Marte sings "Let me be myself" on Wedge's front lawn (with the cavemen).
He’s Jack Brohamer now. With no fielding skills.

fangraphs didn't accept my comment, apparently... but...
This is a bunch of crap. 2010 is the year that the Indians improved their infield defense.
It was supposed to be Peralta-Cabrera-Valbuena-Branyan for the season, with the assumption that Branyan would be traded and LaPorta would slide fro mLF to 1b when he was.
Now, individually:
Peralta has been quietly becoming quite good at third base. He’s a poor SS but he’s been much better at third in the past month/month and a half.
Cabrera got injured when Peralta squashed his arm and is now back.
Valbuena didn’t hit and couldn’t play SS when moved there for Cabrera. He’s now in AAA for both of those reasons. He wasn’t bad at second.
Jason Donald took Valbuena’s spot and while he makes some errors , he also makes enough great plays to make up for it.
Branyan was awful at first. AWFUL. But now he’s gone and LaPorta has been much better than advertised over there. His excellent scoops have saved many errors that Branyan was causing.
And the Indians lucked into Jayson Nix, who’s solid D reputation has come to Cleveland along with an unexpected show of XBH power.
So yeah, this article doesn’t address the true issues with the Indians.
Must not be here for baseball either. Because that isn't what we're playing.
Isn’t the umpire squarely responsible?
At the least, I think the pecking order is:
Donald
Umpire
Santana
Some things just can’t be answered Chuck. Just like why do your feet smell and your nose runs, or why do you park in a driveway and drive on a parkway.

Hammy says a scout from another team said there are 9-10 legit major leaguers in Akron and Alex White could be pitching in the majors right now.
Must not be here for baseball either. Because that isn't what we're playing.
Just to name guys who arguably could fit this description …
In Columbus — Goedert, Phelps, Valbuena, Rodriguez, Weglarz, Toregas, Brown, Marson, Carrasco, Tomlin, Gomez, Pino, Rondon, Huff, Judy, Gosling, Stowell, Putnam.
In Akron — Kipnis, Chisenhall, Rivero, Espino, Barnes, CCLee, DeLa, White, Price, Popham, Bryson, Hagadone.
I like chuck. Don’t often agree with him, but I’m glad he’s here.

OK, Acta… this is why you can’t put Santana 4 and Hafner 5.
Must not be here for baseball either. Because that isn't what we're playing.
From what I hear, the Curse now resides in some sweaty hellhole near Cuba. Time for some breaks our way.

Tarp is coming off. Hope they can finish this before the next wave of storms hits.

Someone give me a reason why I should go to tomorrow’s Clippers game in this oppressive heat. I have free tickets and there are fireworks after the game, but I think I’d rather swim.
I think I know where you’re at, there. Despite a 70% chance of thunderstorms tomorrow night and a predicted game time temp of, like 86, the Grady Wall-Catch Bobblehead sorely tempts me.

Why am I listening to rain delay radio. This caller is making me want to kill my receiver.

Anyone catch the brawl in the Mariners dugout between Figgins, Wakamastu and the rest of the bench? Good stuff.
Boston at Seattle: Cameron hit a ball to left with runners on and Saunders threw to the infield as Figgins watched the ball bounce a couple times about ten feet in front of him. Saunders charged with throwing error. RedSox end up scoring. When the inning ended, a big brawl ensued in the dugout where Wakamatsu appeared to be swinging and Lopez’s jersey came off. Figgins was pulled after the brawl. Branyan reportedly (MLB Network) involved.
Lookout Landing has a write up that actually uses the words “Branyan” and “leader” in the same sentence.

Phew! Just in time. There is little chance the bullpen would have been able to hold this lead if the game had continued, especially with Michael Brantley leading off. Oh well, we’ll have another chance to lose tomorrow.
From, Ben
Had the weather permitted the game to resume, in the ninth inning Kerry Wood would have allowed back-to-back-to-back moonshots to Brignac, Bartlett and Zobrist. Zobrist’s home run would have traveled 650 feet, out of the stadium to right center.
Acta just demurred the 18 game streak as magical thinking and explained that the guys who beat the Devil Rays in 2005 aren’t the guys who beat the Rays tonight. He went on to say that Victor, CC, Blake and Grady were the guys that the Rays had lost to in the past and not the guys they lost to tonight. The inclusion of Grady strikes me a as a bit odd.
What are Chuck’s wagers for the Tribe this season?

We’re there (at least on a shared basis today). With the Royals in NY, we have a couple more days to make hay before the Bombers come to town.
The Rays are a .600 team. The Yankees hitting and pitching has been exactly 15 runs better than the Rays.
The White Sox are also a .600 team … against everyone except the Indians.
Haven’t you heard? The Rays haven’t won in Cleveland since they were the Brookyln Superbas.
