The team sending the veteran out always “wins” these analyses, which makes you wonder if maybe they’re missing something from their inputs.
But this article was actually more about getting to play someone like Brantley or Nix or Goedert or Gomez. But how valuable is that time if the player is getting worked over? Of course, if its really valuable, then you should just sit those outgoing veterans if you can’t find a trade.
Can you imagine the average fans reaction if a team did just bench or release guys it couldn’t trade?
This morning, I drove to work and had the misfortune to listen to Tony Rizzo talking about the Indians. After 3 road victories against pretty good clubs, 3 consecutive 1-run saves by Perez, a strong outing by Carmona, and a horrific-looking injury to Santana, the theme of his comments was ……… Dolan is cheap and needs to go.
