What is with the Chief Wahoo on that page? It looks like he got shrunk vertically and it’s out of proportion.

But he only learned this year? It’s as likely to be a fluke as it is the advanced competition.

Not on the 40-man but seems very likely to be lost if we don’t protect him this year. Our December roster just got crunchier.
I’m a little lost on who we need to add to the 40-man after this year but I’m done worrying about 40 man roster crunches.
Ambriz, Germano, Huff, Laffey, Lewis, Hodges, Brown, Sutton… aren’t these guys all DFA’able? Maybe you hang on to Germano but I wouldn’t lose sleep.
I mean, it’s not like we’re signing a free agent for godssake.
I don’t like this return at all. Was hoping for Phelps, but I guess that was too much to ask for.

I see he’s mastered the art of the don’t-offend-anyone tweet.

On a related note, 7-year-old Jordan Levin made his debut as a starting pitcher today.
4.2 innings, 0 runs, 1 hit, 1 BB, 10 K
I’m trying to find out how many plus-pitches he has. His dad (my little brother) had four pitches with great control by age 9.

Make sure he ices his arm after the game.

Uh what?

Hmm. Things have changed. I pretty much iced all the time, but especially after I tore my labrum. No matter.

I iced and then tore my rotator cuff. Pitching limits and days off are most important.

I only ever iced when I wanted girls to ask me why I had ice on my arm, probably half a dozen times in my whole life, and I never had the slightest brush with arm trouble.
Come on, four billion!

There are some in the Cubs organization who believe heating up the ice is best.

Evidently, he is the bullpen.
The update line is 4.1 innings, 0 runs, 2 hits, 1 walk, 11 strikeouts — over both games of a double-header.
Evidently, there’s a three-inning max for pitchers. So he started the first game, went 3.0 IP, then was brought in to relieve in the second game with two outs in the 3rd. He finished the 3rd and pitched the 4th, at which point the game was called for rain. He wasn’t voluntarily removed by his manager from either game.
He only has a fastball, although he claims to have a splitter, too, so that’s something to watch for in future updates. Only five balls put in play, reportedly all grounders. One of the hits was an infield single, the other snuck through the infielders on the ground.

From what I’ve heard and remember, it’s not easy to learn, and there are so few guys that did it in the first place that it’s hard to find someone to teach it.

Per Hoynes tweet:
#Indians will give RHP Zach McAllister serious consideration for Sept. call up. Just acquired from #Yankees for Austin Kearns.
Did he price himself out of that role?
