Hafner/Sizemore, the Tribe's Old Fogies
Since I’ve been AWOL for the past two months, not sure if this has been addressed yet, but with the recent trade deadline deals, this roster has very little seniority left.
Firstly, although a lot of players have left via trade this season, we will have a hard time reaching the record number of Indian debuts, which was 31 players in 2002 (not counting the 35 used in the debut year of 1901). Heck, we’ll have a hard time matching the 27 Indian debuts from last year, as we are only at 16 debuts this year, and no more trades look to be on the horizon come the Aug 31 deadline.
Anyways, back to the original topic, seniority. With the deals, do you realize that with Westbrook and Peralta gone, this slides Any Marte (!!!!) to number 6 and Trevor Crowe(!@#$) to number 11 in seniority with the Tribe? Egads, the horrors.
Here are the Top 15 as of yesterday:
Hafner 3/31/03
Sizemore 7/21/04
Carmona 4/15/06
R Perez 4/20/06
Choo 7/28/06 (batted eighth)
Marte 7/28/06 (batted ninth)
J Lewis 7/16/07
Laffey 8/4/07
A Cabrera 8/08/07
Joe Smith 4/8/09
Crowe 4/9/09
Sipp 4/22/09
LaPorta 5/3/09 (batted eighth)
Valbuena 5/3/09 (batted ninth)
Huff 5/17/09
So as you can see, only 6 players have been with the Tribe for five or more seasons, with the bulk of the roster debuting in 2009/2010.

I was at that game. I can’t believe that was four years ago already.
I had forgotten that was Andy’s debut. I formed a favorable impression of him then as I watched him hit a scorched line drive foul. It was very nearly a home run. Hollandsworth made a perfect throw from LF to gun down Ichiro. Sowers pitched a beauty. He was on a roll then. Two guys gave us their tickets on their way out, and we were able to move down to a seat right behind the 1B dugout. It was a perfect evening.
Wow
Thank goodness, the last time we saw something like this was the 2002 and 2003 seasons. And that led to the the mid-90 Indians! Oh, the horrors!
