Kipnis has been amazing offensively this year. Still not sure how his defense is developing, but most reports seem to indicate he will stick at 2nd.
I wouldn’t rank him ahead of The Chiz just yet, but he’s definately a top 5 prospect for us this year.
Hardly objective but :
He has very quickly become someone we think that can become an above average defender at a middle infield position -RAtkins via Lastoria
I disregard anything RAtkins says. In the middle of the 2009 season, I recall him saying something about Beau Mills having a solid year…

There is a difference between having a solid year and having Major League potential.

Don’t look now but Mills has been hot since early July (hitting .324 with 38% of his hits for extra bases). I wonder if he can keep it up through seasons end and reestablish himself as a prospect…

I never got excited about mills. When I look at firstinning daily report, he’s like a mahoning valley position player to me.

Maybe it’s the close-set eyes but he does look pretty creepy. I can take that, though, if he keeps smashing the XBH’s.

I actually think he looks like the young Roger Clemens. Wonder if Clemens and Brad Mills were teammates at any point, like 24 years ago.

Phelps has been hitting really well in Columbus, only 3 months older than Kipnis. Are we forgetting about Phelps too much with how well Kipnis has been playing?

Phelps strikes me as a player with solid tools, but not much more. Kipnis has more star-ability imo. That said, Phelps is having a very good year and it’s a nice problem to have. Ultimately I think Phelps becomes a back up infielder or trade bait though.
i just don’t care much about whitesox prospects.

He’s an interesting guy, it’s just his line seems to be very much driven by the fact that his BABIP is very high right now. I think we need to make sure that it’s sustainable before we get too excited. He doesn’t walk that much or hit for a ton of power to overlook the possibility of a BABIP drop.

He is slugging .537 in Columbus which is above his numbers at every other level. Not a lot of home run power, but he has to be getting extra base hits to get this kind of Slg %. I again am left to wonder if the Columbus ballpark is helping out our AAA guys.

Luck-adjusted, his Columbus line is .304 / .383. / .489, which is excellent across the board.

I believe it’s a regression, but I can tell you that it does not make everyone’s BABIP the same. Here’s something crazy: The formula thinks that Goedert has been hitting into some BAD luck.

that’s crazy, but I hope it’s true.
I have been complimented many times and they always embarrass me; I always feel that they have not said enough.

so, i asked castro. was this all to circumvent using up his “outrighted to AAA” after we removed him from the 40?
This is something I have been thinking about for a while now: any chance we move Kipnis back to CF? We are suddenly overflowing with MI prospects and quite low on guys that can play CF.

I think this will always be a possibility, but will depend solely on need.

Not enough range to play center, Kipnis was moved to second because he didn’t project to hit enough at a corner OF spot.
Ah, I thought it was based off of organizational need. In that case, he stays at 2b.

I am not junkballer. For one thing, I don’t know as much about baseball.

What do you think we do with LeVon Washington, if and when he signs? I saw some vids of him hitting recently. I like the eccentric batting stance.
I think we keep him at 2B and then wait three years to see if there’s any reason to move him or anyone else.
