Not the worst-case scenario, but bad news all the same.

No, we’re Cleveland fans. Sports hates us.

It’s like the whole f***ing thing is orchestrated. Can you bet on this kind of stuff? No wonder Xeifrank likes us.

I don’t want him to run it through the simulator. I’m afraid of the results.

Hoynes tweets that Carrasco is also having knee surgery and done for the season.

My initial reaction was that I couldn’t believe the irony of two or our prospects named Carlos having knee surgery on the same day. Then I looked closer at who tweeted.

Wait wait wait … did Hoynes really confuse the two Carloses? Carrasco isn’t having surgery?

That’s why it’s so hilarious

FWIW, when I heard LCL, I was really surprised. You never hear that. I had the same injury back in the dark ages, playing football, and the first thing the doc said was, “outside, good, inside, bad”.

Can Carlos come back and catch 150 games next season, or any season after that? Does this injury necessitate a position change?
I didn’t know where else to put this, so…
Carlos is currently 15 walks behind Choo in fewer than half the plate appearances to lead the Tribe. Meanwhile, he also holds the lead in Columbus by the comfortable margin of 11 over Brantley and 16 over his nearest current AAA competition. That to say that, had he stayed healthy, Carlos had a decent shot at leading two levels of our organization in walks while bosting a BB:K of better than one.
I’m sure he’s going to be fine.
Come on, four billion!
Sure he’s going to be fine as a hitter if the injury had never happened? Yeah, I was sure of that too…

When something like this happens, it tends to take the heart out of fans. But it’s wise, I think, to take the long view. There will be a day, perhaps next spring, when we are again buoyed by a ridiculous sense of hope, and this will all be behind us. The Santana injury seems scary, and those of us who remember the night Herb Score’s great promise ended thanks to a line drive back to the mound, know the worst can happen. But most often — and likely in this case — the injury will be forgotten at some point. Just not soon enough for our taste.

So true. People barely even remember Santana’s last injury, which prompted essentially the same hand-wringing.
