Masterson to start on Saturday
Justin Masteron will take Mitch Talbot's turn in the rotation this Saturday, in what probably will be Masterson's final appearance of the season.
The Indians had set Masterson a limit of 180 innings for the season, and already he has 173, following Monday's seven-inning appearance in relief of Talbot. A successful start on Saturday will leave Masterson very close to his limit for the season.
The Indians originally had said that they preferred for Masterson to spread those last 14 innings out over the remaining three weeks of the season, rather than making two more starts and then sitting out the final two weeks, but obviously that won't happen now.
Talbot is expected to miss only this one start, returning to the rotation late next week.

I wonder why the pressure to get Talbot back in there this year…

While I believe you, Dr. Andrews laughing and rubbing his hands together in the corner is mildly disconcerting.

They’ve already scheduled the surgery. They just don’t want to give an advantage to the Royals by letting them know of the injury.
Why wouldn’t we want to give the Royals the advantage? Can’t believe those jerkoffs still get the draft pick tiebreaker over us …
Shapiro knows only one way to play the game: all out, to win. And besides, we’ve already established the draft position doesn’t matter.
“We” have? Who is included in we?
I, for one, never conceded to that claim.

1. Would you rather miss with the 10th pick or miss with the 5th pick?
2. Would you rather have the 5th pick in a draft with four studs, or the 10th pick in a draft with nine studs?
The FO has scheduled Talbot’s setback ahead of Talbot’s surgery, just to see how that works out.
