Verlander, Young give Tigers 2-1 lead over Yankees - MLB - Yahoo! Sports
Neither Verlander nor Sabathia was at the top of their games, but Verlander went much longer, getting the Tigers through eight innings. Meanwhile, Sabathia was out by the eighth inning, and that meant Delmon Young was facing Rafael Soriano in the seventh inning. It would be interesting to see if Joe Girardi was able to keep a straight face while saying this:
"I feel good about what A.J. is going to do for us tomorrow," Girardi said.

Yeah, Porcello is going to get knocked around for sure. I’d be sweating bullets if I were a Tigers fan all day today. I don’t like Fister’s chances back in NY at the bandbox.
As much as I love watching Indians in the playoffs, I am not missing the self-imposed stress right now.
I’d give anything for a little bit of that stress.

I understand that Pierzynski might have the personality to be a successful TV guy. What I don’t understand is the willingness of TV companies to keep throwing guys out there who the fans hate. It is not going to matter how much insight or analysis that Pierzynski provides because it’s AJ Pierzynski and I (and I bet a number of other people) will not be listening to him because he’s a dork.

There must be a large segment of people out there that like to remain agitated while they watch television. It’s the only explanation I have for why so many caustic, abrasive personalities have remained on the air for so many years during the course of my life.
Could it be the old Howard Stern story where the people who hate him listen to him longer than the people who like them? If you ask me I would put together a panel of people that everyone liked. It is more likely that I will listen to a player I liked and respected compared to a player with Pierzynski’s reputation.
Boredom is simply a bigger problem for ratings than agitation. It’s that simple.
AJ might be a perfectly enjoyable TV personality, who knows?

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to step away from this place for a while.
After years of putting my thoughts to paper (so to speak), I’m going to take some time off from thinking about and writing about the Indians. I’ve been dropping 10,000 words a week on you for long enough…and thanks to you for working your way through the thousands of words every couple of days for the last few years searching for some sort of analysis and meaning.
It’s entirely possible that I poke my head out every so often with thoughts on the comings and goings of the Tribe (so subscribe to the RSS feed or the Twitter feed if you want to be alerted as such) and while I don’t figure to disappear completely, the time has arrived for me to take a big step back from this endeavor and fully move into the true joys of my life, my wonderful wife (you may know her as The DiaBride), who amazingly put up with this "hobby" as long as she did, and my burgeoning family on The Reservation.
Mostly amusing, somewhat lame:
