Maybe the Mariners should stop playing baseball and just make commercials.

Best part is the introductory “Let’s get after it.”
Though I look right at home, I still feel like an exile

Just like the day he was fired, Wedge shows 10 times more personality here than he did in seven years with the Indians.
He could be Ron Swanson’s brother.
Evidently some folks have not checked in with this show since the first season. I was advised recently to give it another shot, and the show is quite hilarious now.

I have been advised the same, and have not taken such advice.

You should, my situation is about the same as Jay’s and it is now in our weekly schedule, along with The Office, Always Sunny reruns and Big Bang Theory.

Parks & Rec is the best thing on NBC by far. It shocks me that anyone could not like this show. Then again 37% of American didn’t even bother to vote in the 2008 presidential election and the turnout for yearly local elections is much, much poorer. It’s a sad thing that a well written show with a great ensemble cast convincingly portraying the people who work in small-town government gets no love. Oh well.
Community is a perfect example of an ensemble cast that grows on you. I hated that show for the first several episodes. Ken Jeong has hijacked the show—which isn’t a bad thing.
The Community paintball episode was brilliant.

My theory on the office is that Pam should have given birth to a shark for the rest of the cast to jump over.
Although it is still somewhat funny.
P&R certainly has surpassed The Office and, in my view, Community as well. Rob Lowe is great, and they don’t even really need him.
There is sand in the microchip.

I love both shows, but they are so different that I have trouble comparing them, actually. P&R has been amazing this year and just reached a completely new level.

With you on this. The first season was meh, but the second and third have gotten progressively better. The Anthropologie reference last week slayed me.

If the first season stunk – which it did – why would you even bother to tune it in the following year?
Our best players wear suits.
No reason at all, and I didn’t. That’s why I had to be told a year later to give it another chance. Evidently the writers found their groove in season two, and some smart recasting has made season three a real gem.
Check out the show’s page on Metacritic. Near the top, right under the show title, you can toggle among the three seasons. The critical consensus and the viewer reaction have both shot up.
Incidentally, The Office was not very fun to watch in its short first season, either, and it’s going to go down as one of the best loved 25-odd shows of all time.
My DVR just recorded every episode of Community and Parks & Rec. And I watched every episode, although I’d usually let them collect dust first. I just don’t like deleting things. And they both started slow, but I knew a lot of really talented people were involved in these shows and they kept showing glimpses of very funny writing/excellent casting. I’m thrilled that I stuck with them. They’re fantastic.
And Ron Swanson is brilliant. You’d like him, Chuck.

I’ve been debating purchasing the Swanson pyramid of greatness poster for my basement since that episode aired.
