My interview with Curtis Granderson
Sorry for the generic link. It' the second interview down the page.
That Sterling call is revolting. But Granderson is one heck of a likeable guy, even if his answer on baseball economics / competitiveness is predictable.

Definitely a predictable response, but more intelligent than what CC would say.
Glad you shared the link… was wondering how long it would take for you to mention the Indians.

Very well done. You definitely have a knack for the news business without coming across as just a face.
Also, Granderson has a future in broadcast as well.
Not much good on TV news but you’re quality.

You gotta pretty tough job there Tabs – cheery in the morning while interviewing one of the jackasses as he relentlessly plugs a product then buying off on that “parity” response. Tough, tough gig.
Our best players wear suits.
Chuck – He’s a jackass by default, but he comes across as a very good dude. Regarding the product plugs, that was MILD. Trust me. And they don’t hide why he’s coming on. Athletes will endorse anything if you pay them. He actually had some experience with it, and I found it admirable.
Yeah, the parity response. Gah.
Granderson isn’t a Yankee for life and isn’t a Yankee by choice. I’ve got no beef with him.
I did feel, tabs, like you missed an opportunity to chime in with something like, “That’s true, Grandy, you played on some terrible Tigers teams.”
He’s a Yankee just like Rivera, Paul O’Neil and others. They may be likeable, but they’re still Yankees and part of the system that’s killing baseball. No Yankee ever – and I mean ever – should be given any rythym whatsoever. Never.

Paul O’Neill was likable? When? Granderson is bought and sold like so much chattel. It’s not his fault.
I think he’s saying Granderson was just as bad as O’Neil, who was famously a whiny little bitch on the field.

Great stuff, Evan. I always liked and will continue to like Granderson. Like Jay said, he’s not a jackass by choice.
Also!
Am I reading the website correctly… will you be interviewing Stone Cold Steve Austin next week?! If so, I am irrationally jealous.
Strange. Wrestlemania is today… you’d think that’d be it. I don’t have any idea why, but for some reason I’ve rekindled an interest in classic WWF. Haven’t watched it since high school, but lately it’s been the mega-escapist thing to do for me and a few guys in my program. rad school has strange effects on one’s mind.
Granderson was in Auckland in late January holding baseball clinic’s and spreading the word, by all accounts he was a great guy, even padded up and tried his hand at cricket on one sports show I saw. Have an autographed poster, still haven’t worked out what I’m supposed to do with it? Suggestions greatly appreciated!
One day I'll get over to watch the Tribe play

Send it to Chuck. I’m sure he’ll know what to do with it.
I'm emotional about my glove...

Man, that was a good interview, especially given the constraints of morning TV land. Well done. You must be one of the few who actually listen to the answers and have some natural give-and-take, just like a normal human being. I’m usually flabbergasted as morning anchors run through the list of questions provided by their producers. “Oh, so you sold fusion bomb secrets to the Soviets? By the way, you must be a Libra. I heard Libras are good scientists.”
I admire anyone who takes on a foreign language, so kudos to Granderson. But it’s not chop-chop, in three or four weeks you are having conversations with the natives. It’s hard work, and as an adult, putting your ego on the line. My suggestion is to do it the old fashioned way. Study hard, and get a girlfriend.
I suppose it wont fly telling her you are a Renaissance man who must follow the spirit of knowledge wherever it leads.
