by troyflowers on Apr 18, 2011 11:34 PM EDT up reply actions

I think that was the one

and the santana who hit a double to start the scoring.

by supersizeme on Apr 18, 2011 11:34 PM EDT up reply actions

This isn’t my fight, but, Santana really has looked awful up there, and is objectively not doing much hitting.

by Fire Slider on Apr 18, 2011 11:35 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree with you, but the guy hit a HR yesterday, and had a double, RBI, and run scored tonight. He’s still not playing as well as he can, but I think it’s the wrong time to knock him, since he’s (hopefully) starting to come around

by troyflowers on Apr 18, 2011 11:37 PM EDT up reply actions

honestly, I think Santana is over his slump as of yesterday, but I’m still gonna give him a hard time for another game or two. Choo needs to get something figured out.

One double and a 4-pitch walk against a guy who couldn’t touch the zone. Yeah he’s still in my doghouse

and the HR yesterday?

by supersizeme on Apr 18, 2011 11:37 PM EDT up reply actions

Last two days have been better, but he still looks unsettled up there

by supermarioelia on Apr 18, 2011 11:38 PM EDT up reply actions

Who’s not in your doghouse then?

by troyflowers on Apr 18, 2011 11:38 PM EDT up reply actions

Troy, take it easy pal. Things are going great, I’m just saying two guys haven’t carried their weight so far. And even the last two nights Santana still doesn’t look dialed in at the plate

by supermarioelia on Apr 18, 2011 11:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Even as a Santana defender, I think this is reasonable. I don’t think it’s anything to be concerned about, but if we’re pointing to relative underperformers to date, I think this is fair.

This game has been sort of the antithesis of the extra inning game against the Angels. There, Acta was relatively idle, to our frustration, and possibly our detriment. Here, he was proactive, made ballsy (Smith in the 8th, though no one was warming) moves, and it feels great.

More specifically, no George Lucas dialogue. A significant reason that Ep V and VI were excellent was that the gave good writers a plot outline and let them produce a script. Also, they didn’t have Hayden Christopher.

by Joe. on Apr 18, 2011 11:49 PM EDT reply actions

because Choo’s still in 4th?

Still don’t get it.

orlando’s batting better than Choo

by 9James on Apr 18, 2011 11:55 PM EDT up reply actions

The difference is that Choo is a good hitter.

by Joe. on Apr 18, 2011 11:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Right. Except for the first 16 or so games of 2011

by 9James on Apr 19, 2011 12:05 AM EDT up reply actions

The difference being that Orlando Cabrera has had an OPS over .800 once in his career. He’s not a good hitter and should not bat 6th on any decent hitting team. Perhaps it only costs the Indians a handful of runs, but it’s just dumb.

LGT's resident moderate Yankee hating fan.

by Joe. on Apr 19, 2011 12:08 AM EDT up reply actions

I know Choo should be great, and I’m looking forward to that. I’m not convinced that batting OCab 6th or 8th makes any difference.

by 9James on Apr 19, 2011 12:13 AM EDT up reply actions

What was the point of bringing up Choo at all then?

LGT's resident moderate Yankee hating fan.

by Joe. on Apr 19, 2011 12:14 AM EDT up reply actions

It wasn’t very scholarly was it?

by 9James on Apr 19, 2011 12:15 AM EDT up reply actions

Choo’s slump has probably cost us 4 times as much as Orlando mis-aligned batting order

by 9James on Apr 19, 2011 12:16 AM EDT up reply actions

The funny thing about Cabrera is that his highest slugging percentage comes when he’s batting fourth, which position he’s actually occupied 100 times in his career.

by YoDaddyWags on Apr 19, 2011 12:18 AM EDT up reply actions

so you’re saying he can drive it when he wants to?

Did he badmouth the team?

by Joe. on Apr 18, 2011 11:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Tonight, on the radio, he was asked if the Indians can make the playoffs. He dismissed them out of hand.

Now, I’m still very skeptical about the postseason for this team, but if you’ve watched them play, it’s like they are a whole new team out there.

by emd2k3 on Apr 18, 2011 11:59 PM EDT up reply actions

He’s been a consistent hater of Masterson and Carrasco as starters, so if he backed the team he’d be flip-flopping. He’s looking foolish about both, but it is early.

by Roger Dorn on Apr 19, 2011 12:02 AM EDT up reply actions

I think his dislike of Masterson is much more reasonable than his dislike of Carrasco. Two pitch starters don’t really exist. At least, not good ones.
