Until he stops buckling on inside strikes the current book is still good on him. It’s not just squaring up on the ball – he has to make an adjustment.

Yeah, he’s jumping back on pitches worse than Derek Jeter ever did. He either needs to set up farther away from the plate, or learn the inside corner of the strike zone.

Someone should show the article to Santana so that he knows he is doing some good things up there and can break out of the slump without getting too radical. Seeing an article like this would really help my confidence if I was struggling. I’m sure hitters are not counting their own swinging-at-pitches-out-of-the-zone percentage.

So the silver lining seems to be…Santana isn’t really swinging at anything. Am I the only one a litter nervous about that? Is that a pitch recognition issue?
