Ha, just posted a fanshot too. One of the mods can delete mine. Thanks.

An Aaron Wilson (?) said a few hours ago that Chisenhall had left Columbus. Possibly in Arizona tonight?
Steel Nick
I also thought Donald would get the call first, but maybe this is a combination of getting the fans excited and going for the player with the highest impact potential?

Any idea if we have passed the Super 2 arbitration window?
@grantgw - sports and Cleveland and Columbus stuff
I gotta imagine so, by an awful lot. And isn’t this going to be removed in the new CBA?

I wouldn’t even begin to speculate about what may or may not be in the new CBA. Certainly the owners would like to remove it, but that doesn’t really mean that much.

I bet the agents push for it. These days, the only thing it really accomplishes is pushing back general arbitration because teams are terrified of the Super Two. While the service time portion remains the same, the prospects end up getting pushed down the calendar.
The agents are not part of the negotiations.
If you eliminate it, you’ve got 25 or so players every year who won’t get arbitration who otherwise would have, and of course this has a spillover effect on their future earnings as well.
Why would the MLBPA be in favor of that? Nobody has answered that question for me. There is always going to be a threshold point for service time and a threshold point for arbitration, and teams will always be more reticent to call up a top prospect around that point. You can move that point around, but you can’t eliminate it.
I think LaPorta may be a RF now.
"I want to be playing at the end of October or the end of September -- not just at the beginning of April." —Grady
With his injury problems, you think so? I almost view this as the team losing patience in him and considering some sort of platoon between LaPorta, Marson, Santana, and Hannahan.
A U.S. Army platoon has between 16 and 44 soldiers; the Indians are getting close. On to Verdun!

I think I contracted shell shock sometime in that Giants series.

So is there any chance we can keep his at bats under 130 for the rest of the year?

Scoresheet purposes. Players with less than 130 at bats qualify for rookie status which means they don’t count toward the 13 protected players each year. If Chisenhall and Kipnis come up I’m gonna have a roster crunch.

Sorry. I figured it was a little out of character but the timing was pretty good, IMO.

Are we really better than this? I recall game threads stuffed full of adorable animals for questionable cause. I think this was worth a shot.
Trombone/creamy/soda.
Than using tired jokes like “Friday” and “#winning”?
I think we are.

As I left work today, I had a few thoughts about the Tribe. First: Oh, the Indians play tonight, another loss, yay. Then: You know what, I love LGT gamethreads, this is still gonna be an ok night. Now: Holy shit, it’s the Chiz. Great night indeed.

Thank you for not taking the low-hanging fruit, talking about Chiz in my trousers, or linking to the Andy Samberg music video of such.
Considering that “Friday” is still getting love…

I keep going back to his peripherals and I’m… not excited. But perhaps he’s mildly young for his level? Or that he’ll start walking more because he found walk rate boring? Or that he’ll hit more line drives and for more power?
Don’t get me wrong. I’d love to see him tear it up. I just don’t want to hang too much on the kid. (At this point, anything is better than what we’ve been watching.)
So the ChizIsChrist nickname might be too much?

maybe when he pronks one out we can limit it to “Chizzam!”

Chiz has been a scout favorite for awhile even if the numbers aren’t perfect. Also! We haven’t had a real third baseman in a long long time.
Im going to pretend like you considering Nix not-a-third-baseman didn’t just happen.

All this option, trade, DFA, bankruptcy and Chiz talk obscures the fact that since Andrew has taken his vow of silence, at the commencement of which the Indians had a five game lead, the Tribe is 7-16, having scored 2.74 runs per game, been shut out 5 times, and having been outscored by a run and a haf per game.
Perhaps, Andrew, you are gaining great benefits from this Kavadi—Lord knows everyone wants Nitya Sukha, infinite knowledge, immortality, freedom and independence—but your Karma must be a little ragged right now with all the suffering you have bequeathed us.
