Here’s one…

How much less would it have cost us to get Fister instead of Jimenez?

Hammy and Hegan just now figuring out why the Rockies were willing to part with Ubaldo.

What’d they say exactly?

seemingly not throwing as hard as he could be.

Forget Ubaldo, what was the logic behind Seattle trading Fister? They are loaded with arms and had to trade one?

by Toxicadam on Sep 26, 2011 8:24 PM EDT reply actions

Francisco Martinez is their projected 3B of the near future—at 20, he did okay at AA, though he needs to walk more. He’s a “true five-tool talent”! (Jack Z’s note to self: “Make scouts see Moneyball again.”) Chance Ruffin is the Tiger’s #1 pick from last year and already in the bigs at 22. They probably hoped Furbush would be a satisfactory replacement for Fister in a year that didn’t matter, after that 17-game losing streak.

7 of 9 Tigers had gotten on base with just 12 outs.

Sort of on topic…

I caught Pomeranz’ last outing when he faced the Astros. I don’t think he hit 90 on the TV gun at any point during his short outing.

Was the gun likely off? What is his normal fastball velocity?

He did throw a few nasty curveballs I believe they were.

by hardcap on Sep 26, 2011 8:36 PM EDT reply actions

I also have read around the net that his velocity is down like 5 mph since he’s been with Colorado. Maybe he’s fatigued?

Mike Heegan’s calling it quits at the end of the season.

Bummer.

Hey, we’re only down two scores here… the Lions’ defense isn’t this good.

Quick TD, a 3 and out… we got a chance.

The Cabrera/Martinez/Avila trio is as good a trio as you’ll find anywhere in baseball now. And Fister is channeling Greg Maddux.

Ozzie Guillen traded to the Marlins?

That’s what Hamilton is saying, and he usually has pretty good sources.

Sox get Manny Sanguillen, I think.

I heard the end of whatever sentence he said on the topic, so I checked teh twitterz—there’s this one

AmyKNelson Tim Kurkjian just told BBTN he heard earlier there would be two players in Ozzie trade…Seems like a lot, unless one of them is Leo Nunez.

There’s also a link summary you know where THAT DID NOTHING WRONG

The Marlins seem to have quite a group of disgruntled players, so it kind of makes sense.

Of course if Leo Nunez would be included, he’d be a Player to Be Named Later.

LoMo and Ozzie will be hilarious together.

Not that being a fan of team that just lost 14-0 has much room for schadenfreud, but the Red Sox and Rays are a couple innings from being tied for the Wild Card lead.

by Ryan on Sep 26, 2011 10:02 PM EDT reply actions

Also, the Cards are 0.5 games back and are tied 4-4 late in their game.

The Red Sox collapse makes me happy. And it is worth noting again that we took the season from the Yankees Lite.

@grantgw - sports and Cleveland and Columbus stuff
