Good crowd here so far; loving the energy.

Come on 1 more win! We can do this!

Wow. That was a freaking moonshot.

Detroit the favorite in the AL right now?

by johnf34 on Sep 27, 2011 8:37 PM EDT reply actions

Boston’s unglued, Yankees’ rotation is full of ??, randomness of a best of 5. I wouldn’t bet against them.

What if...

by Danieldelamaiz on Sep 27, 2011 8:43 PM EDT up reply actions

If they can win all of Justin’s starts then I like them to get it done. Fister is pitching better than any other potential AL playoff #2 right now as well.

Around baseball: Atlanta is getting hammered. St. Louis is losing early to Houston, but if they turn it around they’ll be tied going into tomorrow!

by johnf34 on Sep 27, 2011 8:47 PM EDT reply actions

Nope, St. Louis is now getting rocked. Atlanta should have their lead intact going into tomorrow.

by johnf34 on Sep 27, 2011 8:56 PM EDT up reply actions

Wow, Delmon tags him now. See you in 2012 Jeanmar..

Surprising to see Gomez start that inning.

I hate that stupid fucking growl noise.

Durbin gets a chance for another licking along with the new guys.

by palcal on Sep 27, 2011 9:21 PM EDT reply actions

Anything better than 3 bombs in an inning tonight is improvement though right?

by johnf34 on Sep 27, 2011 9:24 PM EDT up reply actions

Sizemore is going to Vail to see doc who operated on his left knee to get his opinion on his right knee.

RALLY! FOR +.500!

A couple more RBI for walk would be a great way to end the season. LGT!

by Danieldelamaiz on Sep 27, 2011 9:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Ugh. Keep chipping away and let’s at least bust up Valverde’s perfect save streak in game 161.

by johnf34 on Sep 27, 2011 9:50 PM EDT up reply actions

Durbin needs to leave. Before I suggest remove by ballistic missile.

What if...

by Danieldelamaiz on Sep 27, 2011 10:01 PM EDT reply actions

Rays win, Braves lose, Cardinals down, Boston up 2 but in some trouble in the bottom of the 8th. And the 5th wild card wrecks all of this drama.

What if...

by Danieldelamaiz on Sep 27, 2011 10:09 PM EDT reply actions

Just like adding a first wild card would ruin the drama of the pennant race. I think drama would come out eventually, no matter how things were put together.

by Joel D on Sep 27, 2011 10:22 PM EDT up reply actions

In the long run, I have no problem with another wild card. But this year is better without it. Next year, who knows?

What if...

by Danieldelamaiz on Sep 27, 2011 10:27 PM EDT up reply actions

I think we see eye to eye on this then. I’m all for drama; I think eliminating divisions is pretty close to inevitable at some point in time.

by Joel D on Sep 27, 2011 10:31 PM EDT up reply actions

All for this. I’d love to see just an AL and an NL.

by johnf34 on Sep 27, 2011 10:32 PM EDT up reply actions

Same here. The wild card is kind of ridiculous when the teams competing for it haven’t been playing the same teams.

by Joel D on Sep 27, 2011 10:34 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m for anything that helps the Indians’ chances. One more playoff spot? Sure. A chance to drive a stake through the heart of the Red Sox? Sure. Doing it with Masterson? Justice.

What if...

Anyone watch Catching Hell? I’m halfway through it on the DVR. I was at Wrigley that night, working underneath the left field bleachers in the Money Room. It was an absolutely surreal night. I was caught up in the Cubs season for sure, it was exciting and I got to be there every night, drinking in the stands long after games had ended and all the money was counted. I’ll never forget that night, nor Game 7. Kerry Wood’s homerun that tied the game in the middle innings was one of the most exciting things I’ve ever seen. We felt it before it was on TV, the low ceiling of the vault room started shaking, the noise above was so great. I thought the whole thing was going to come down on us. If the Cubs had won that game, his home run would have been remembered as one of the handful of biggest home runs in baseball history.

On the one hand, he did nothing wrong. On the other hand, that play, that pedestrian foul ball that he happened to get a hand on, basically just a strike, was the turning point. It was unreal. The “pain” I felt was absolutely insignificant to how I felt in 1997, or to 2007, not to mention the Browns’ losses or the Cavs. But it was an incredible night, I’ll never forget it.

Yea, I thought it was great. I was completely entertained the entire time.

It’s a real shame they couldn’t get an interview with him. Really would have brought some closure on it, but they were so methodical with the documentary, it kind of made his POV pointless. Because it wasn’t really about him .. he was just the vessel everyone heaped their misery into.

That biblical scapegoat analogy was a terrific touch.

by Toxicadam on Sep 27, 2011 10:36 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m at the Biblical analogy right this single.

“Scapegoats are solitary and vulnerable. He was the perfect scapegoat.”

I liked the doc a lot, but felt it dragged on toward the end. How those two lawyers with their 180pp document made it into the final cut, I have no earthly idea.

No question. The fact that they bring their best effort even with the team having been eliminated is admirable.

Incredibly sick of playing Detroit.

Can’t be a winning team this year. Aaargh.

by JulioBernazard on Sep 27, 2011 11:18 PM EDT reply actions

The Nats are only playing 161 apparently, so we can’t tie them. But by losing tomorrow, we could possibly leapfrog 4 teams in the draft order. I’d rather us get the PR of .500 though.
