Omar wears/wore 13 for Concepción, so it is essentially the same thing.
Matt LaPorta is the bane of my existence.
Omar
Pretty sure Asdrubal openly talks about how he wears 13 because of Vizquel… and I’m not sure that is “essentially the same thing” as wearing 13 because of Concepcion, though I do get your point in regard to the link. I agree with millionairesrow on this one.

Yes, I am aware. I never said he didn’t. Asdrubal wears 13 for Omar, Omar wore 13 for Concepción, therefore Asdrubal wears 13 because of Concepción. That is basic logical reasoning.
Matt LaPorta is the bane of my existence.
It is nonetheless RIDICULOUS to make a fancy page celebrating Venezuelan players who wear #13, naming a few dozen players and completely omitting Vizquel.
Vizquel is the premier Venezuelan player to wear #13 over the past 25 years.

The original link just seems to be missing a link in the chain with their explanation as to why #13 is popular with Venezuelan SSs.

Yay! New front page post!

Projections?
How confident are you guys that As-beast-al repeats?

- Repeats his break out last year.
- No subject line. Got it.
- Baseball makes me nerdy.

Nice recovery.
Asdrubal struggled at the end of the year and has had a little trouble staying healthy in previous years. (Granted, it wasn’t his fault that Peralta stepped on and broke his leg in 2010.)
I don’t think anyone should be confident that Asdrubal can repeat his 2011 success. I wasn’t surprised by it, since I always thought he had that kind of potential — but there’s a world of difference between doing it once and doing it over multiple years.
They need to re-hire OCab if they want Droobz to repeat his ’11.

“Nice recovery” – indeed… I wasn’t sure how anyone could respond to that abomination of a nickname.
Asdrubal has the ability in him, so he could repeat his performance. He also has the joy of playing the game, which makes me think he will repeat. Maybe not at the highest level we saw last year, but certainly at a level to make Dave Concepcion proud to share the #13…
