Charmed? I only met him once and he was quite rude. May have been a bad day but sheesh!

My only recollection of him, personally, is waiting in a hoard before the game to get an autograph. He signed for more people than I could have ever imagined. Sadly, the hat which held the autograph has vanished.
Matt LaPorta is the bane of my existence.
My sister claims to have been groped by him (on the rear) during one of the post game autograph signing sessions.
As a Torontonian, I can tell you firsthand that our collective heart was charmed & captured by Wendel Clark, who then handed it over to Tie Domi, where it went AWOL for awhile and is now holed up with Dion Phaneuf, who, as far as anyone can tell, has only ever groped the butt of Sean Avery’s “sloppy seconds”.

I believe that.
During the 2003 and 2004 seasons I shot many Indians games for a local paper. During that time it was pretty common for Omar to sit on the dugout steps and rest his arm on the barrier between the dugout and the photo bay for the bottom half of innings. If you sat on the opposite side of the barrier it was a great spot because you were close to homeplate, but Omar might talk your ear off—which was cool, but distracting. Many of the veteran baseball photographers avoided that spot for just that reason. Omar didn’t always sit there, but if there was a pretty female photographer in that spot, you could guarantee he’d be there animatedly chatting her out of good images with a big grin. When a guy sat there, he’d have his hand on his chin and stay quiet during the pitches.
I was being facetious about him charming the entirety of Canada (I’m sure Saskatoon could care less), but I’ve always loved him as a player and felt pretty lucky to talk to him for an inning or two during the occasional game even though I pretended like it was no big deal.
Ah, I’m only joking too. I guess in a roundabout way I’m stating the fact (sad as it is) that Toronto will always be a hockey town. Not that dissimilar to Cleveland’s relationship with football, eh?
That said, Omar’s been getting some press here — though they’re still all clamouring for Prince after the Darvish fallout.

Would they like a Pronk, now that Prince has signed on the other side of Windsor?

Aren’t the Leafs are basically the NHL version of the Cubs?

Apparently, even while married, Omar used to like to chat up the girls and take them up to his hotel room on road trips.
