Jimenez is in fabulous shape after an offseason of working on his core and lower half
aaaannnnnddddd
And even if [Fausto and Leo] make it past those hurdles, every indication is that both players will then be disciplined by the commissioner's office for falsifying their identities. So they're likely to have to serve some sort of suspension weeks or even months from now. In other words, don't expect to see either on a big league pitcher's mound any time soon.

I love stories about players being in the best shape of their lives. Happens every year. Now if he could just pitch the best season of his life.
More encouraging than, “Ubaldo went to Europe and is just starting his offseason regimen,” no?

Craig Calceterra at Hardball Talk has a running joke about the “best shape of his life” articles every offseason.

I’m usually skeptical, too, but then Cliff Lee went through that training to deal with his abdominal issues before the 2008 season and said something like this. Maybe lightning will strike twice.

Would be far less surprising for Ubaldo to win the 2012 Cy Young than Cliff Lee in 2008.

Wasn’t Choo supposed to have been in the best shape of his life before last season? I’m going to wait until the season to make any judgements or predictions about Ubaldo
Beer will do that to a figure.

As long as Ubaldo has paperwork attesting to his 28-year-oldness and Ubaldoness, and said paperwork has been affirmed, acclaimed and stamped by the appropriate estimable agencies of the Dominican Republic and the United States, allowing him to toe the Prog Field rubber 34 times this summer, he can have engaged in an off-season-long pizza-eating competition with Prince Fielder, for all I care.

I just got back from my laundromat, where there are signs posted that say “The ‘laundromat’ will now be open 6am-12am starting 2/1/2012”, so thank you for the appropriate use of quotations. It made me wonder, was the laundromat real? Were my clothes really clean?

Man, the standard for punctuation in laundromats has totally gone to hell.
