Winter Meetings Day 1 Recap + Day 2 Open Thread

Jesse Johnson-US PRESSWIRE

A-Rod needs surgery, Mike Napoli has a new home, SF still a Pagan place, and the Indians are "feeling out" other teams

Day 1 of the Winter Meetings is in the books. Major signings include the following:

The Soria signing probably takes the Rangers out of the Chris Perez market, if indeed they were ever in. The Marquis signing makes me believe a little more that they might actually be interested in Ubaldo Jimenez, as rumors have suggested, since they're willing to throw money at Jason Maarquis.

Jordan Bastian posted an excellent roundup of Day 1 on his blog, including notes from a meeting with Antonetti, which later became this article, with an unfortunate headline about Indians "feeling out other teams."
