I’ve seen some backlash in comments on other sites. But I mean, what do we expect. I’m sure there was plenty of downside to the life Fausto led, including (I imagine) isolation from his family and friends. It is mature of him to educate them on the pitfalls, because while it worked out fairly well for him, that isn’t always the case.
Matt LaPorta is the bane of my existence.
Mature? I’m sure it’s being required of him if he ever wants to get back to the states.
Plus, I’m sure the kids are thinking, “Can you believe this BS? If they didn’t make him give back all the money, then what he’s saying is complete crap.”
See, that position is way too easy to take and assume. Maybe it is required, but I’m sure it isn’t easy to just step back into the limelight so soon after such a public incident and talk about it.
Matt LaPorta is the bane of my existence.
Isn’t easy? Are we landing him at Normandy here?
It’s that or give up major league baseball. That’s an easy call.
There is lots of middle ground, I just see no reason at all to turn on the sympathy spigot, just because they asked him to go in front of a bunch of teenagers and BS them for a few minutes. A guy who has performed in front of tens of thousands of fans dozens of times, and in front of a national TV audience of millions on more than one occasion. This is just not a big deal.
I’ll keep viewing it as mature until you show me that someone is making him do it. I respect your opinion, but you can’t use an assumption to back it up.
Matt LaPorta is the bane of my existence.
But likely?
I like ex-Phillies prospects.

I am not cynical. In fact, the advice he’s giving is not even good for most of the kids. It’s good for MLB and it’s in his own self-interest to give it.
So no, I don’t think Fauxberto is voluntarily giving bad advice to the kids.

I’m amazed at how you turned the entire story and discussion into a single sentence that not only makes you look right, but makes anyone who disagrees look like a fool. You really have a way.

Well, I look at it like a sculptor. The work of art is in there, I just need to chip away everything around it.
I think Jay gets sycophancy recs, but maybe that’s just me.

It’s been a month. It’s not like they asked him to do this the week after he got caught. I mean, the guys who got caught taking steroids had to talk about it the same day. I’m not saying what he’s doing is a negative thing, but I don’t think it’s particularly brave either.
I also agree with Jay that the kids likely aren’t paying attention. They know how much money he has.
