It is $5k over the midpoint between the two original bids. Who knows- maybe Perez thinks it means the battle was “won” in some sense to have settled at a price higher than the midpoint.

Of relievers with at least 200 innings pitched since 2007, Perez is the 30th in terms of WAR. 5th on that list is Rafael Betancourt, with a significant chunk of that value coming from his amazing 2007 season in Cleveland.
