After watching Lindor in the Fall Instructional League, I have very little doubt that he will develop into a very good major leaguer, one that can play a premium defensive position while providing above-average offensive production.

As soon as he lands in a team this year I’m jumping online and getting a Lindor jersey. Pretty sure it will be the only one in Australia

I’ve let my BP sub lapse and can’t renew it at the moment, so apologies if this is in the article. Parks tweeted a few days ago:
[…] I’m afraid Francisco Lindor might be new crush. I think he could be a superstar
I was kind of surprised not to see this tweet show up in the “capitalizing on tweeted inefficiencies” box.
Parks apparently loved what he saw of Lindor in Fall Instructional League play. Parks is also the guy who loved what he saw in Arizona for Cleveland when he spent a week watching complex league play last summer.

I almost didn’t want to read this BP article as I’m trying to remain as optimistic as possible across the board. And yes, as already mentioned, Parks seems to love him. But even at the end of the “What Could Go Wrong in 2012” paragraph, he’s gushing over him again with this closing line.
I think he has a chance to be a star, and to be honest, I think he makes the necessary adjustments very quickly and emerges as a top tier prospect in the game before the year is out.

He and Goldsmith show a lot of love for Lindor in episode 80.0 of their “up and in” baseball prospectus podcast. Not a bad listen if you haven’t downloaded before.

Heyman reports that the Rangers extended Andrus for 3yr/$14.4m. Where would that put Asdrubal on a 3yr, $20m? Though, I would expect at least a 4 year deal for him if there is one to be made.

A 4 year deal would actually be 2 years of FA. As of now, I don’t think the hearing date has been made public.

Despite the 80 OPS+ he makes it close, but I’d still take Asdrubal given the same contract. The vast majority of Andrus’ value is tied up in defense, and a solid OBP for a shortstop, and those have frequently been undervalued in contract negotiations.

Defensively, yes, but we know that offense, particularly HRs means more in arb. Indians know that, too.

The Rangers extended Andrus’ guarantee, but Andrus did not extend his commitment to the Rangers.

This. From Andrus’ standpoint, he isn’t really losing all that much in salary since he’d only be eligible for arbitration. For Asdrubal, he’d be potentially giving up a lot more earnings if he signed past 2013.

One more 2011-like season, and he’s not close to 3/$20m.
More like 3/$36m at least.
