Tribe acquires Stoneburner from Texas | indians.com: News
Not only did the Indians get Kelvin de la Cruz back just a month after trading him, they also received a player from the original deal. Actually, the player they is more likely to help Akron or Columbus than the major-league club; Davis Stoneburner is 27, and hit .269/.341/.413 for AA Frisco. He's mainly played second base, but has played shortstop and third base in the past. Stoneburner was not on the Rangers' 40-man roster.
No one has impressed in the battle for the two open outfield spots, so hopefully this injury doesn't lead to another open spot on the roster. Ryan Spilborghs, Aaron Cunningham, and Felix Pie are the other outfielders in camp that can play center field, so we'll probably see a rotation of those three while Brantley is out.

Some good news did happen in Monday's game: Jeanmar Gomez went four strong innings, and seems to be close to locking down the fifth spot. I think at this point anyone but Gomez winning the final rotation spot would be an upset. Jeanmar has worked on his slider in the offseason, and that hopefully will keep hitters from sitting on his fastball.
