Tribe signs top two draft picks Tyler Naquin and Mitch Brown: Indians Insider | cleveland.com

As mentioned yesterday, the Indians signed their first round pick Tyler Naquin, paying a bonus that was $500k less than the amount assigned to the pick. That gives the Indians some room to give a lower round (round 2-10) selections a bonus higher than the signed amount.

Some of that savings got spent on signing their second round pick, high school pitcher Mitch Brown. That pick was assigned $639,700, and the Indians gave Brown a $800K bonus.Hoynes also mentions that the Tribe's third round pick, high school pitcher Kieran Lovejoy, could also sign shortly.

Here's a quick chart showing the Tribe's picks, the bonuses they've given out, and how much they have to play with before reaching the bonus cap:

Dusty Baker: Derek Lowe probably 'drinking at the ballpark' - MLB - Sporting News

The bizarre feud (for lack of a better word) between Derek Lowe and Reds manager Dusty Baker continued, with Baker firing off some accusations about Lowe:

"He don't respect himself because the word was that whatever he did and said, there was probably a good chance he was drinking at the ballpark at that time three or four years ago, so he don't remember what he said or what he did, OK?" Baker said with an edge to his voice.

Baker acknowledged having Latos throw inside to Lowe, but said it didn't involve any personal issue between the two of them. Rather, it was retaliation for Lowe hitting Joey Votto in the back during a game in 2009 at Great American Ball Park, when Lowe was with Atlanta. Players from both teams were hit during that series.

Lowe has certainly faced the Reds many times since 2009, and now's the time Baker orders his pitcher to retaliate? And then he throws in an allegation that Lowe didn't remember the incident because he was intoxicated?

In related news, Lowe will be facing the Reds on Monday.
