At the end of the story, Hoynes mentions the Indians have signed their third round pick Kieran Lovegrove. They agree to pay Lovegrove $400k, a little under the slot of $432,700. So they've saved $372,400 from their first three picks that they can use to entice some of the lower picks (including Dylan Baker and D'Vone McClure) to forego college opportunities to sign with the Indians.
