Minor League Recap: June 18, 2012

Charlotte 5, Columbus 2

T.J. McFarland (4th Round, 2007 Draft) had a decent start (6 innings, 2 runs, six hits), but reliever Dan Wheeler imploded, allowing three runs in an inning of work. Matt LaPorta and Russ Canzler provided the offense with a solo homer each.

Reading 4, Akron 3 (10 Innings)


Bad relief seemed the order of the day in the high minors, for Brett Brach allowed just a run on one hit in six innings, but Kyle Landis, who has been pitching very well, gave up 2 runs in relief. Thomas Neal went 2-for-4 with a double.

Both Carolina and Lake County were off for their league All-Star Breaks

Mahoning Valley 8, Jamestown 5
The Scrappers opened up New York-Penn League play with a victory. Tyler Naquin wasn't in the lineup, but he wasn't needed, as the Scrappers had 10 hits, including 5 extra-base hits.
