Minor League Recap: June 19, 2012

Columbus 13, Charlotte 2
The big story of this game was Jason Donald's cycle. Donald, who was starting at third base, homered in the first inning, hit a tripled and singled in the third inning, grounded out in the fifth and struck out in the seventh, but then doubled in the ninth to complete the cycle.

Of course Donald wasn't the only Clipper to have a big night; Russ Canzler (who I mentioned in the News post) went 2-for-4 with a home run and a walk, and Tim Fedroff went 3-for-5 with a double. Corey Kluber cruised for the victory, striking out 9 and allowing just one run in 6.1 innings of work.

Akron 6, Binghamton 4 (Game 1)
This was a completion of a suspended game from earlier in the month. The game picked up in the sixth, but even with the game shortened, Nick Weglarz managed two home runs, one in the sixth, and another in the ninth.

Akron 4, Binghampton 2 (Game 2)
In Game 2, Paolo Espino went 5.1 innings, allowing a two runs on 5 hits. Thomas Neal hit his third home run, and Chun-Hsiu Chen hit his 21st double.

Both Carolina and Lake County were off for their league All-Star Break

Carolina All-Stars: Jeremie Tice, Shawn Armstrong

Lake County All-Stars: Francisco Lindor, Cody Anderson, and Joseph Colon

Jamestown 3, Mahoning Valley 1
The Scrappers were held to 3 hits, all singles. Jake Sisco made his 2012 debut, allowing 2 runs in 3.2 innings.
