Columbus 16, Toledo 2

Chris Seddon pitched six strong innings, backed up by three innings of scoreless relief from Tyler Sturdevant and Scott Barnes, but the offense ruled the day. Tim Fedroff went 3-4 with two HRs and a walk, Jared Goedert went 4-5 with three doubles, Zeke, Canzler and Phelps all added two hits. Fedroff has officially gone Kouzmanoff...be warned.

Akron, Bowie PPD

Carolina 1, Winston-Salem 11

Cole Cook pitched a perfect 2.1 innings with three Ks. Carlos Moncrief had a triple.

Lake County 5, West Michigan 4

Roberto Hernandez made his improbable debut for the Captains, making it through five innings while allowing six hits and three runs (only one earned run). The good thing is that he recorded nine groundouts, no walks and four Ks. The walks and groundouts are both encouraging. Jose Ramirez and Luigi Rodriguez each hit doubles.

Mahoning Valley, Staten Island PPD

AZL Indians 5, AZL Padres 4

Alexis Paredes, a 20-year old RHP from the Dominican, continued his strong stateside debut season with 4.1 scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit, one walk and recording three Ks. Claudio Bautista, an 18-year old middle infielder also from the D.R., hit a 3-run HR (#2) and had four RBI in the game to help lift the goodyear Tribe.
