The Clippers managed "just" eight runs, led by the still streaking Ezequiel Carrera (3-5, double), Matt LaPorta (2-4, double, walk) and Jared Goedert (2-5, HR #15). Jeanmar Gomez recorded eight Ks in 6.1 innings, but gave up five runs in the process.
Steven Wright turned in another solid performance (6IP, 5H, 1R, 3BB, 4K) to ensure Akron came away with two victories. Juan Diaz hit his 20th double. Roberto Perez, who has a solid defensive reputation at catcher, but who has served as Wright's personal catcher all season while he hones his knuckleball, allowed his 24th passed ball.
Jesus Aguilar went 3-4 with a double and Anthony Gallas added a grandslam (HR #7) to carry the Mudcats to a win.
The teen trio of Jose Ramirez, Francisco Lindor and Luigi Rodriguez got on base seven times and scored four runs. Five relievers combined to cover the nine innings for Lake County.
Joe Sever went 2-4 with his first HR of the season.
