I'm with Manny Acta... I've just never seen anything quite like this. What is the record for the worst August in modern MLB history, because we've got to be close. But even that can be a positive, if you think about it the right way. One of the things I love about baseball is that you can watch it for decades and still be surprised and still see new things. And continuing with that idea...
1) I was honestly hoping about halfway through this series that they were just going to fail to score any runs in a 4 game series. I mean, at this point it doesn't really matter if they go 0-4 or 1-3, and that would have been something I could have told me grandchildren about. YOU THINK THE 2066 INDIANS ARE BAD! I ONCE WATCHED THEM GET SHUT-OUT FOR DAYS ON END BY OAKLAND, A TEAM THAT NO LONGER EVEN EXISTS!
2) Now it's more likely that the A's will make the playoffs, which seems like a good thing to me given the choices. Surely we have some A's fans here! I mean, among the alternatives are the Rays, the Tigers, and the Angels, none of which sound like very appealing options to me.
3) The Indians have drawn the notice of the Onion, at least: http://www.theonion.com/video/cleveland-indians-take-advantage-of-racist-name-to,29370/
See you after the next sweep!
