Jason Donald is progressing after getting hit by a pitch 11 days ago.
Donald (right wrist) took batting practice Sunday for the first time since being hit by a Justin Verlander pitch. "I'm encouraged by the way it felt," said Donald.
Former Indians RHP Jeremy Accardo will be joinig the Athletics.
Accardo, 30, was designated for assignment by the Cleveland Indians Aug. 5 and cleared waivers and became
a free agent Aug. 11. He was signed by the A’s and assigned to Sacramento on Aug. 15.
After four years with the Mets, the Buffalo Bisons will be affiliated with the Toronto Blue Jays beginning in 2013. This means that the Mets lasted in Buffalo about a quarter of the time that the Indians did.
Starting next year, [Paul] Beeston will get to see his Triple-A prospects playing at a downtown ballpark after the Blue Jays formally signed a two-year affiliation agreement with the International League Buffalo Bisons on Friday.

Shields fanned Toronto's J.P. Arencibia leading off the second inning on Friday night. Rays pitchers began the night with 1,264 strikeouts, two shy of the 2001 New York Yankees.
