The White Sox had one of the quieter offseasons, but expect to contend like they did last year when they faded down the stretch to allow the Tigers to win the division. The lineup is decent and they have two very capable starters at the top of the rotation. The bullpen is not what it once was, but is not god-awful either.

This lineup is extremely unbalanced to the right side, however most of them have the power to park them in the seats. Rios, Konerko, Viciedo and Ramirez have typically given us fits over the years. And Dunn is similar to Reynolds, only he bats left-handed: walk, home run or strikeout. If Beckham doesn't recover from his wrist ailment, expect Keppinger to move to second with Conor Gillaspie playing third. The only guy hot right now is Rios. But Keppinger, Dunn, Konerko and Viciedo have all gotten off to rough starts.

Quintana was originally an amateur free agent signed by the Mets. After a couple of seasons with the Yankees, the White Sox picked him up before the 2012 season. Sale was the thirteenth pick in the 2010 draft while the Tribe took Pomeranz fifth. Brought up initially as a reliever, Sale has the stuff to compete for a Cy Young someday soon. Peavy in 2012 looked to be finally recovered from his injuries. The first game of the set looks to be our best chance at a win, although no-name lefties often give us trouble. As much as I like Zach, Sale is a tough matchup for us, and I have no faith in Myers right now.

The key lefties in the pen are Matt Thornton and Donnie Veal. We could also see Nate Jones or Hector Santiago. Reed was a third round pick in 2010 and has flown through the system. He had very good K rates but is a bit wild as well. Lindstrom is the veteran of the staff at 33 and Crain is the former Twin who was signed prior to the 2011 season.
On the Shelf
- SP John Danks (left shoulder surgery) - 15-day DL, possible early May return
- RP Leyson Septimo (left shoulder strain) - 15-day DL
- 2B Gordon Beckham (left wrist nerve irritation - day to day
If and when Danks recovers, he should replace either Axelrod or Jose Quintana in the rotation. Septimo is another live arm for the pen.
