Whether the Tribe lost or won on Sunday, this weekend was already a huge improvement over the two debacles against the Yankees. The rains came and washed the streets of Cleveland clean of that nonsense. And though the Indians DID lose on Sunday, there were plenty of good things to talk about afterwards:
1) Brett Myers finally put together a decent outing, it didn't feel like just a fluke. He got his stuff down and had far better location than in his previous outings. Myers scattered six hits over six innings and only gave up two runs on a homer by Paul Konerko right before he was pulled. If Justin Masterson is great, Zach McAllister is pretty good, and Myers (or anyone else) can give the team a chance to win sometimes this team may be able to string together a rotation after all.
2) Michael Bourn may have gotten stepped on at First, but the injury wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it might be at first. I have a feeling Bourn'll be back any day, and in the meantime he went 3-for-4, taking the first pitch of the game over the wall for the Tribe's only run.
3) Carlos Santana pinch hit in the ninth and hit a ball a mile but just foul down the right field line. He then worked a walk to give the Tribe some life in the 9th... he looks ready to go when the Red Sox roll in to town.
Today is the first actual scheduled off-day of the year for the Indians. Enjoy it while ye may.
