The running theme of the game thread tonight was the extrapolation of small sample sizes, so it was very appropriate that Mark Reynolds, who to that point had gone 0-for-8 on the season with 3 strikeouts, hit what proved to be the game-winning home run.
Bullet points!
- Although by the time the game ended Ubaldo Jimenez had long been gone from the game, he was I believe the contest's biggest story. If the Indians can get the Ubaldo that pitched tonight all season long, then this season's going to be a lot more interesting.
- There's a lot of players on this roster that strike out, and against Brandon Morrow, one of the league's best strikeout artists, the result was...lots of strikeouts.
- The Indians had plenty of opportunities to take a lead early in the game, but couldn't break it open.
- Had Joe Smith allowed Toronto to tie the game in the 11th, all that was left in the bullpen was Cody Allen. How ironic it would have been that the Indians would have come across the rare situation where an eight reliever was needed just a day after optioning their eighth reliever.
