Three Positives to take from Blue Jays 10, Indians 8

If you're new around here, some background. Last year right around the time the season began to really go south I started listing three positives to take from each loss in the comments thread for recaps, as much as a defense mechanism as anything else. After a while somebody said I should turn them into FanPosts, so I started doing that. Unfortunately, there turned out to be more many, many losses, plus I got married and moved and so after a while the Positives trailed off. But I would very much like to continue the series this year, though perhaps not after every loss. This was the first loss of the year, however, and it seemed like a particularly easy loss to find positives in, so it seemed a good place to start. Let's do this!

  1. As many have noted, it's a very different feeling this year when this team is behind as opposed to last year. The Indians were down 3-1, 6-3, and 9-6 in this game, and they almost came back all three times. If the Tribe can get good production out of guys like Carlos Santana and Jason Kipnis in addition to the new guys, this is going to be a very, very hard line-up to pitch to.

  2. Specifically, Jason Kipnis looked pretty bad in the first two games, and there's been a lot of talk about his weight, but he broke out to some degree last night with a two for five performance with two doubles, a run scored, and an RBI.

  3. We got our first look at Mark Reynolds at 1B yesterday, and with the sole exception of that weird attempted flip to Cody Allen he looked great, particularly when stretching to finish off a ground out. It didn't really look like we'd lose anything from using him at first whenever needed.

Tonight, Zach McAllister goes to the mound against the Rays. Let's smack some off the catwalks!
