Asdrubal Cabrera exits game with right quad strain

Eric P. Mull-US PRESSWIRE

Asdrubal Cabrera had to be helped off the field after trying to run out a ground ball in the 5th inning Monday night.

UPDATE: The team is calling it a right quad strain and he is likely headed to the DL:

The headline sort of says it all for now, Asdrubal Cabrera pulled up lame while running out a ground ball in the 5th inning during Monday night's game against the Yankees. To my untrained eye, it looked like he badly pulled a muscle, possibly his quad. This post will be updated as more information comes out, so consider this nothing but speculation, but a DL trip seems like a decent bet.

I think the most likely scenario would be bringing Lonnie Chisenhall back up from Columbus, where he's been hitting the ball well, and having Mike Aviles play SS. I suppose Cord Phelps could be called up instead, if Cabrera does indeed hit the DL.

What certainly WON'T happen is a Francisco Lindor call up, so please don't let your mind go there.
