Francisco Lindor and 5 other Cleveland prospects headed to Single-A All-Star Games

Eric Hartline-US PRESSWIRE

Six Cleveland prospects have been named to SIngle-A All-Star Games to be played in June.

Both the Carolina League and the Midwest League have announced the rosters for their respective All-Star Games and Indians uber prospect Francisco Lindor is one of six players in the Cleveland system that's going to be involved.

Lindor is going to be the starting shortstop for the Carolina League All-Star team and is joined in the starting lineup by first baseman Jerrud Sabourin and outfielder Tyler Naquin, with pitcher Cody Anderson also on the team. The Carolina League plays sends its All-Star team to face the All-Stars from the California League, its West Coast High-A sister league. This year the game will be played in San Jose, California, on June 18th. Lindor is the marquee player in the game, on either side. The other three players are all a little too old to be considered a prospect who 'matters,' but they're playing well and any of them could become contributors in another couple years.

My best guess is that Lindor is promoted to Akron by the end of June. Naquin and the other two could be bumped up to Double-A before the end of the summer too.

The Midwest League's All-Star Game will also be June 18th, in Dayton. Cleveland prospect Logan Vick will be starting in the outfield for the Eastern Division team and is joined on the squad by pitcher Louis Head. Neither of those two is viewed as very likely to ever make meaningful contributions in Cleveland (but who knows), but if you live within an hour an a half of Dayton (or San Jose) and have the time, I highly recommend the Minor League All-Star Game experience. I attended the Midwest League's game last season and had a blast. If you have kids and can arrive early, they'll absolutely get the chance to meet players and get autographs. I had the chance to talk to Lindor for a minute, and even as an adult (more than a decade older then him), it was an exciting opportunity.

The Eastern League (home to Akron, the Indians' Double-A affiliate) will hold its All-Star Game on July 10th, in New Britain, Connecticut and the Triple-A All-Star Game will pit the International League and Pacific Coast League's All-Star teams against one another on July 17th, in Reno, Nevada. Rosters for those games will likely be announced in a couple more weeks.
