Danny Salazar scratched from tonight's scheduled start

It is unclear at the moment if this will be simply a one-day delay to his next appearance, or something more.

The Indians have scratched Danny Salazar, tonight's originally-scheduled starter, and will instead give the ball to Zach McAllister for the series opener against the Angels. MLB.com's Jordan Bastian reports it has to do with concerns over Salazar's workload, and that this might be only a brief delay for him:

Salazar electrified Cleveland by striking out 7 while allowing just 1 run on 2 hits in his MLB debut last month, then struck out 10 Tigers in his second game, before struggling somewhat in his last start, when he lasted just 4 innings last Monday against the Twins. He's already thrown a career-high 110.2 innings (most of them in Columbus), despite being limited to just 5 innings in most of his AAA starts, as part of his continued recovery from Tommy John surgery three years ago.

For now, Tuesday's starter is listed as TBD (that's "to be determined," for those of you not up to speed on your acronyms), with Justin Masterson still scheduled to go on Wednesday. If Salazar is in fact given more than just an extra day's rest, we could see the debut of Daisuke Matsuzaka, or 23-year-old T.J. House, both of whom have been pitching well in Columbus recently. It could also be Carlos Carrasco, though given his struggles this season, I'd rather see one of the other two get a chance first.

UPDATE:

Salazar will start tomorrow instead, meaning this is just about getting him an extra day's rest.
