So this year's total matches the second best total ever and the most wins since the Tribe won it all in 1948. It also tied the 1908 squad, who arguably was the best Cleveland team not to make the postseason. But total wins is sort of an easy method for determining how good this September was. Let's look at the how this year's record compares with the winning percentage.

Well, that is more like it. 2013 now jumps to second on the list. And just ahead of our two title winning seasons. I like that sort of company. I plum forgot how good those 1996 and 2005 finishes were too. But just how dominant was that final month? Well Pythagoras is one way (not the only of course) to see how good this final month was.

Hmmm. Not quite as dominant as I thought it might show. Sixth on the list is nothing to sneeze at though. Again, it is up there with the 1920 and 1948 championship squads. And wow, how impressive that 1906 finish was. Too bad they finished five games out of the money.

In summary, was this the best September ever? Well, I believe it would get that nod from most, but that is because it is in the current memory banks. But for now, I'd rank it third behind the 1920 and 1948 championship squads, tied with the 1952 team. Now when they win it all this year ... of course it just might become the top September of all time. LGT!!!!
