- I think Ubaldo just got quite a bit cheaper:
SBN's Chris Cotillo suspects the Orioles will act swiftly in their pursuit of Burnett. Jeff Sullivan came to the conclusion earlier this week that the Indians would benefit most by adding Ubaldo Jimenez; this might make that even more likely. Sullivan:
Eventually you land on the Indians. The Indians are looking at a potential gain of a couple wins, and they’d also like to have Jimenez back if that’s at all possible. At issue is the cost, which is the same for everybody... Among teams who’ve been rumored, the Indians might benefit the most, and I’m guessing that would involve the return of Jimenez. He’d bring them closer to the Tigers, and he’d put them in better wild-card position.
Zack Meisel has a profile of Indians pitching prospect Cody Anderson at Cleveland.com. Anderson's mom talked him out of football, and trouble with the curveball talked him out of hitting, so in college he turned himself into a pitcher. Last fall he won the Bob Feller Award, given annually to the Indians' top Minor League pitcher.
- Yuni Betancourt signed over in Japan with the Orix Buffaloes. Earlier in the season, there was some suggestion that he was coveted by MLB teams. I never could believe that.
