Indians News & Links, 2/19: Masterson still willing to talk long-term deal

USA TODAY Sports

Justin Masterson has signed a one-year deal with the Indians to avoid arbitration, but is also still open to a long-term extension with the team.

Indians notes:
  • You probably already saw that Justin Masterson and the Indians avoided arbitration with a 1-year deal. Masterson is willing to talk about making that longer during the season, but Chris Antonetti would prefer that talks remain confined to spring training.
    Here, Hoynes weighs in.
  • The Indians are happy about adding another high draft pick, Shaun Marcum is happy to get back on the mound, and non-roster invitees are happy to be in camp. That and more in Jordan Bastian's daily notes at MLB.com.
