Indians Saturday Recap: Tribe and Padres play to thrilling 10-inning 4-4 tie

Carlos Santana - Marilyn Indahl

Today you saw something that you'll only see in Spring Training baseball: a tie

Boxscore

Those who attended today's Indians-Padres matchup in Peoria didn't see anyone win the game. Or lose the game, either. So the Tribe's eight-game winning streak is technically still intact.

The Indians got out of the gates quickly, as they strung together four straight hits in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead. Those four hits belonged to Nick Swisher, Jason Kipnis, Carlos Santana, and Michael Brantley. Brantley would go 4-for-4 on the day, continuing his torrid spring.

None of the projected starting pitchers (or pitchers in contention for the rotation) threw today, so it was mostly a bullpen affair. Tyler Cloyd pitched the first two innings, and after that all appearances were one inning apiece. Following Cloyd was Scott Atchison, Bryan Shaw, Nick Hagadone, Mike "Bronko" Zagurski, J.C. Ramirez, Austin Adams, T.J. House, and Scott Barnes. Hagadone gave up a run in the fifth, Ramirez gave up two unearned runs in the seventh (more on that in a bit), and T.J. House gave up a run in the ninth.

Carlos Santana made another start at third base, and he finally got some action. Unfortunately, one of those plays led to two runs scoring, as he threw high on a routine grounder with nobody on. Later in the inning Jonathan Galvez singled home two runs to tie the game at 3.

Asdrubal Cabrera hit his first extra-base hit of the spring to drive home the go-ahead run in the eighth, but the Padres tied it in the ninth and that's how the game ended after ten innings.

Next Up: The Indians play the Brewers at Goodyear. Gametime is 4:05 PM (as most of us will be setting our clocks ahead an hour tonight).
