Series Preview
The Indians are riding a 14-game winning streak against the White Sox, which is their longest streak against a single opponent in the expansion era.
Starting pitchers: Danny Salazar (R) vs. John Danks (L)
The 28-year-old Danks was a good pitcher from 2008 to 2011, but injuries and ineffectiveness have plagued him during the past two season. He's the first of three southpaw starters the Tribe will face in this series.
Starting lineups:
Indians | White Sox |
Asdrubal Cabrera (SS) | Adam Eaton (CF) |
Nick Swisher (1B) | Marcus Semien (2B) |
Jason Kipnis (2B) | Conor Gillaspie (3B) |
Carlos Santana (DH) | Jose Abreu (1B) |
Ryan Raburn (LF) | Adam Dunn (DH) |
Michael Brantley (CF) | Dayan Viciedo (RF) |
Yan Gomes (C) | Alejandro De Aza (LF) |
Mike Aviles (3B) | Alexei Ramirez (SS) |
David Murphy (RF) | Adrian Nieto (C) |
He wouldn't have started tonight anyway, with a lefty on the mound, but in case you missed it, Lonnie Chisenhall is away from the team on paternity leave, with his wife expecting their second child any moment.
The White Sox received bad news today when it was revealed that outfielder Avisail Garcia has a torn labrum in his left shoulder, which will require season-ending surgery. Garcia was the return for Chicago when they dealt Jake Peavy last year.
