Last night's game against the A's was postponed due to rain. It was the first rainout in Oakland since 1998. A doubleheader today will make up for this; the games are scheduled to begin at 3:35 and 9:05 ET.
Freddie Freeman homered twice for the Braves last night. Amazingly, Aaron Harang will start for them today, against Matt Garza in Milwaukee.
The Yankees lost to the Astros(!) in the first game of their no-name shortstop's final season. CC Sabathiagave up 6 runs in 6 innings to open the season with a sparkling 9.00 ERA.
Mets closer Bobby Parnell has a partial tear in his elbow and will miss time. Yes, I was dumb enough to draft him in the LGT fantasy league, warning signs and all.
Bad news for the $270-million Dodgers, as Clayton Kershaw (baseball's best pitcher) is likely to miss most of April with a bad back. Reliever Brian Wilson was placed on the disabled list too, with an elbow injury. That second item moves Chris Perez an inning closer to the end of the game. Good luck with that, Los Angeles.
Speaking of the Dodgers, they beat the Padres 3-2 yesterday in a game I watched part of. I have now seen three Padres games in the past handful of days and have this (SSS) observation to pass along: Jedd Gyorko looks terrible defensively. He had a couple misplays against the Indians to close the spring season, and had two more in the first inning yesterday. He later added a Raul Ibanez-esque throw for good measure.
