Four saves in five days. Mighty impressive for a guy who has long been a premium arm in the bullpen. But is Allen THE close or will Francona juggle in Shaw and others on a regular basis?
I realize Shaw had a few saves in-a-row before this before giving up a dinger when asked to pitch three days in a row. I realize the Indians have the luxury of having enough good bullpen arms that Francona can have a default closer and still give him the occasional night off to keep him rested.
But is Francona going to stand up and say Allen is the primary closer? Or has he done that or hinted at that already and I just missed it?
