Tribe Monday News & Notes: Santana feeling good, Tigers slipping

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Carlos looks like he's on his way back, Lonnie keeps on hitting, and the Tigers are struggling

One more to go in Texas, but the Tribe made a good showing taking two out of the first three. It was a pretty good weekend, as the Indians inched above .500 for the first time in forever despite the end of the six game winning streak. Bit of a slow news day, but here's what else is going on around baseball:

Yesterday's game: Indians 3, Rangers 2

Another solid game by Justin Masterson and the bullpen while Lonnie Chisenhall kept on hitting.

Indians news & notes

Santana feeling more comfortable at the plate | Indians.com - Maybe the time off helped Carlos Santana, but he doesn't recommend anyone get a concussion. The Indians have been working to get him to focus on something other than batting average, and it seems to be working. In the past eight games, he's hitting .308/.514/.615.

Chisenhall still knocking the crap out of the ball | Cleveland.com - Lonnie Chisenhall keeps hitting, and hitting lefties, and hitting just about everything else. Terry Francona recognizes the road is paved for the ChisenHall of Fame. Just don't ask about his defense. Also! Nick Swisher says "Quack, quack!"

D-man's notes from Sunday's game | Cleveland.com - Lots of interesting tidbits, and just as many cringeworthy puns.

Tidbits from around MLB

What's eating the Tigers? | Fangraphs - The Tigers have been the worst team in the AL over the past three weeks. Can anyone really figure out why it's happening? Does anyone here really care as long as it keeps happening? Fangraphs thinks defense and Justin Verlander's nosedise are the biggest culprits. Speaking of the Tigers...

Cabrera day-to-day with hamstring tightness | Twitter (@tigers) - Likely not the first (or last) time Miguel Cabrera has trouble with something "ham" related.

The Twins have the bats | Sports On Earth - Minnesota came from nowhere to sign Kendrys Morales, and now their lineup looks good enough to make a play for the AL Central as the Tigers fall.

Machado losing his grip | Sports On Earth - Manny Machado threw a couple of temper tantrums this weekend against Oakland, and it's time his team and MLB do something about his antics.
