With the Tribe getting an off day this past Thursday it has given the team, and more importantly the bullpen some much needed rest.
Additionally, the current turn through the rotation has each starter getting an extra day of rest. Francona and Callaway know this rotation far better than I ever will, but I am curious if it might be better to keep certain pitchers like Kluber pitching every 5th day.
While I can't imagine Kluber is going be thrown off his game by getting an extra day off (after all, nothing phases the Klubot), over the course of the season isn't it in the interest of the team keep their best pitcher on rhythm and have him make as many starts on full rest as possible?
Considering how the division and or wildcard could come down to a difference of one game like last season, maximizing starts from the Ace of the staff would seem to be a prudent decision.
I have been unable to find analysis that weighs the pros and cons of getting an Ace a few extra days rest vs getting 1 or 2 more starts during the course of the season, so I am curious to get the opinion of the LGT community.
Also, if there is some analysis of this out there by someone far smarter than me, please link it below. Thanks
