Indians fall 6-2 to White Sox - Indians - Ohio

It is tempting to focus on the three runs Austin Adams gave up in his major-league debut, but any time you only score two runs in a game and you aren't facing Chris Sale or Felix Hernandez, the offense should get the blame. Particularly in this case, as the Indians had multiple opportunities against a weak bullpen to either tie or take the lead.

Tribe acquires Maronde; Giambi to 60-day DL | indians.com: News

The Indians made a roster move yesterday after the game. They acquired left-handed reliever Nick Maronde from the Angels for a PTBNL, and placed Jason Giambi on the 60-day DL to make room for the acquisition.

The start of Maronde's professional career kind of reminds me of Kyle Crockett. The Angels drafted Maronde in the third round of the 2011 draft after a nice career at the University of Florida. He made it to the majors very quickly, making his MLB debut in September of 2012. His meteoric rise through the system came with basically just a fastball, but because he often fell behind in the count, opposing batters would just wait on the fastball, with predictable results. Since then Maronde has struggled to throw strikes at all, and has an obscene 17.0 BB/9 rate in the minors. Obviously this is a case where the Indians love his stuff and can see a correctable mechanical flaw. I certainly wouldn't expect him back in the majors any time soon.

Sore hamstring keeps Dickerson on the bench | indians.com: News

The dreaded sore hamstring kept Chris Dickerson out of the lineup yesterday. The injury did not sound serious, as Dickerson was available for pinch-hitting duty, but a hamstring injury seems to never go away entirely, as we've seen with MIchael Bourn.

Futures Game to begin All-Star Week in Twin Cities | MLB.com: News

Today at 5 PM the 15th annual Futures Game will take place in Minneapolis. The Indians are sending just one representative, but the game is worth watching just because of that one player. Francisco Lindor, who now among the best prospects in the game, will be playing in his third straight Futures Game, and the way he's developing, it might be his last. With Asdrubal Cabrera a free agent at the end of the season, there's a very real possibility that Lindor is the starting shortstop for the Indians next season.

Latest 25-man/40-man Roster

Lots of roster shuffling over the last week, starting with Michael Bourn's injury last Sunday and ending with the acquisition of Nick Maronde yesterday afternoon. In the last week, the Indians added four players to the 40-man roster (Holt, Perez, Dickerson, and Maronde), removed two (George Kottaras and Mark Lowe) and placed two players (Michael Bourn and Justin Masterson) on the Disabled List.

The rotation still remains in flux, as the Indians enter the break with just four players in the rotation. TJ House and Danny Salazar will probably each be making at least one start in the week after the All-Star Break (Salazar probably in this Saturday's doubleheader, and House on the 21st).
