O/T Music Thread - Weird Al edition

It has been quite a while since we had a music discussion around these parts.

I am a huge Weird Al Yankovic fan. I first heard him on the Dr. Demento show with Another One Rides the Bus. He obviously most famous for his Michael Jackson parodies, Eat it and Fat. But he actually has a very extensive collection of music (and not all are actual parodies).

He had a resurgence in the late 90s when he released Running With Scissors, his tenth studio album. Here he merged his parody kingdom with the Star Wars Universe with "The Saga Begins," a riff on American Pie talking about this here Anakin guy.

Last week, he announced his release of his new album, Mandatory Fun, album number 14. He also has been releasing a new video each day. His first release was Tacky, a take off of Happy by Pharrell. That video and song is very good.

But his piece d'resistance was the unveiling of Word Crimes, the parody of Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke. This song/video hits home here for the LGT crowd based on his many grammar references, some of which are memes here.

Word Crimes

The next day, he released Foil, his take on Lorde's Royals (not the KC ones). I thought this one was also appropriate to the LGT crowd as we do discuss conspiracy theories from time to time.

Foil

I have been a big fan of parody since listening to Allan Sherman s a kid. He was most famous for Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah. But he has plenty of other excellent tunes as well.

Hope you all enjoy the brilliance of Weird Al.

Edit: I tried to embed the videos but had no luck. I did put the links in for the time being.
