The Rays have had a disappointing season after meeting the Tribe in the Wild Card game last year. They were thirteen games under .500 when the calendar turned to July. A 17-6 month got them close to .500, but they never cracked the .500 mark.
The hitting has been pretty atrocious as the slugging and runs scored are at the bottom of the pack. But the pitching has been fantastic, even with the dealing of Price at the deadline.
The Tribe took two of three from the Ray at Tropicana Field way back in early May as Kluber and Tomlin both notched wins while the offense disappeared against Erik Bedard.

Both Desmond Jennings and Yunel Escobar were shut down this week after sustaining injuries. Longoria is the only player to crack the 20 home run plateau, and the player with second most is Rodriguez with 11, half of Longoria's total. That is a serious power outage. The team's ISO is just 122, which is thirteenth in the AL.
The most surprising numbers to me is the lack of production from Myers, the defending of Rookie of the Year. He has definitely had the dreaded sophomore slump.

Former Tribe farmhand Archer has had a pretty good year. He has been ok in September, 3.51 ERA, 1.169 WHIP and 6.0 K/9. He took the loss in the Tomlin game in May. Colome has missed much of the season with an injury. He was activated in mid-September and pitched great against the Yankees in his lone start and then gave up four runs in an inning of releif versus the White Sox. He has never pitched against Cleveland. Cobb has been superb in September, with a 1.65 ERA, 0.878 WHIP and 5.3 K/9. He missed the May series with an injury but has pitched well in his previous three starts against the Tribe. McGee took over the closing duties from Balfour and has been most excellent.
